| Darcy Stamp has established himself as one of Canada's most versatile sidemen.Currently Darcy is working in Calgary as a freelance violinist/fiddler playing Celtic, Classical, Pop, Country, Folk, and theatre shows.Darcy does extensive studio work, including albums, commercials, Broadway touring shows, and Nashville demos. CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:Josh Groban, George Canyon, Tyler Connelly (Theory of a Deadman), Dave Gunning, Johnny Reid, Jully Black, Andrea Menard, and John Wort HannamPerformances at Kennedy Center, and Smithsonian in Washington. Shows with traditional Celtic group Third Reel and Tim Tamashiro's Bonanza Little Big BandTheatre credits include fiddler in A Closer Walk with Patsy (Vancouver), and fiddler in The Best Little Whore House in Texas (Calgary).Darcy's self-titled solo album was released in 2007. It's a diverse album of violin/fiddle instrumentals, showcasing a variety of styles. EXPERIENCE:For 8 years he was a member of the Calgary Fiddlers, followed by two years as a founding member of Fiddlers GF, that included extensive touring of Canada, U.S. and the U.K. Some of those shows included engagements for Disney and double bill with fiddler Mark O'Connor, as well as opening for Charlie Daniels, the Statler Brothers and Patricia Conroy. TRAINING:His training has included classical violin studies at Mount Royal College Academy program with Joan Barrett and Nick Pulos, and three years of private violin study at the University of Toronto with David Zafer. Darcy has also been a violinist for the Calgary Youth Orchestra, Toronto Youth Symphony, and the University of Toronto opera Orchestra. |
